Brancaster Staithe
Brancaster Staithe sits on the north coast of Norfolk, facing Scolt Head Island across a tidal harbour. It is a working village fishing boats still operate from the quay, the harbour fills and empties with each tide, and the salt marshes stretch out towards the island in a landscape that changes by the hour. The two apartments at Brancaster Stays are less than 100 metres from The Jolly Sailors and a short walk from the harbour, the coast path, and the marsh.
One of the best vantage points for seeing the coast is Barrow Common, shown on the map above. From there you can see the Lincolnshire coast across The Wash to the west and Holkham beach to the east. Barrow Common is a short walk up the hill from Brancaster Stays, just turn right onto Common Lane and walk to the top of the hill.
The Norfolk Coast Path runs through the area and there are numerous bus stops for the coastal bus services. This means that visitors basing themselves in the village can use the bus to reach further afield to start or finish their exploratory walks or cycle rides.
